New Zealand ng Zambales, Rancho Rodriguez

It’s another emerging local tourist destination in the province of Zambales. Due to pandemic, people are limited to move from place to place, strictness for the entry of outsiders are being implemented from each province. Right now, only Zambaleños could enjoy the beauty of Zambales. Local tourists are very eager to explore every single place in Zambales that’s why this very far piece of land, a paradise and a New Zealand as they called is discovered and become famous in Facebook.

Here’s our adventure. On January 31, 2021 we visit this place. Our jump off is at San Marcelino Town Proper. We negotiated for a tricycle ride to Yinye Bridge, it’s a steel bridge at the end of the dike. Tricycles in front of 7/11 gave us a higher fare (500php for one way) so we rejected it and go to the back of the market. We rented kuya Labrador 09284670550 he’s so kind, he just billed us 200 for one way. But we gave him 300. We also asked him to fetch us at around 2pm that same day, and he was there earlier than the given time another 300php for giving us a ride back at the market.

Going to Yinye bridge from the market is around 45minutes to 1 hour ride with a tricycle. Btw we have companions riding on a bicycle, only 3 of us commuted and will going to walk after the bridge. It’s a bumpy ride due to the road is not established that’s why we opt to add 100php from a 200php fare that was billed from us by kuya Labrador.

The steel bridge is magnificent and perfect for an IG post.

After the bridge, we have to walk 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the ranch. Walking early in the morning is best as you’ll not endure the heat of the sun.

below is the part 1 of my VLOG featuring our journey to the magnificent bridge of Yinye Bridge.

Just follow the trail and ask some locals there along the way to avoid getting lost in the desert. Once you find part with lots of trees on the right, go right through it and there will be some river crossing. Follow the trail.

You’ll notice that the place is getting more beautiful as you get near the ranch. Go on some photo ops and enjoy the trail.

So after 1.5hours of walking we reached Rancho Rodriguez, The Newzealand of Zambales. It’s magnificent and truly amazing place. Grasses are perfectly trimmed and cows just roam around freely.

A donation of 20 php per head is a token of gratitude for experiencing the place as the caretakers takes care and clean the place everyday. Overnight camping is permitted also and there’s no exact amount if how much to pay. Just give maybe 100 to 300 but be mindful on your noise and wastes. You can also ask a boatman to give you a ride to the sunken church. 50php per head depending on how many you are, price may change just negotiate for a win win price.
